Adsum, the masters of northeastern menswear hailing from Brooklyn, have at long last unveiled their highly-anticipated collaboration with Adidas: the remarkable Samba Millennium.
Adsum, a loyal supporter of the Three Stripes, has consistently showcased lesser-known designs from the renowned German sportswear giant in its lookbook over the years.
In celebration of the holiday season, Adsum has resurrected the adidas Samba Millennium, a discontinued indoor football (soccer) shoe that has not been available for at least ten years.
While many may view the adidas Samba as a mere fashion statement, Pete Macnee and his team recognize its performance history.
Adsum, known for their stylish white-and-black soccer jerseys, has garnered attention thanks to the rising popularity of the "Blokecore" trend. Their Samba Millennium collaboration takes inspiration from the iconic sneaker but adds a contemporary touch and revamped features for optimal performance on indoor fields.
The collaboration features a "T" toe made of grey suede, contrasting with the rest of the upper which is crafted from luxurious beige leather. The profile 3-Stripes and Achilles' Heel panels provide a striking black contrast.
The traditional adidas Equipment logos are found on the tongue, while the usual "Samba" text on the side is replaced with debossed "Adsum" branding.
In terms of its sole, Adsum's adidas Samba Millennium sets itself apart from the more popular version, incorporating a responsive foam and a semi-translucent gum outsole with excellent grip. A sturdy Torsion plate runs through the center of the outsole, brought to life with a vibrant red hue by the Brooklyn-based label.
Adsum hosted an exclusive event to celebrate the release of the Samba Millennium on Friday, November 6th. Those interested in attending had to enter a lottery through the adidas CONFIRMED app.
However, starting on Thursday, November 16th, the sneaker will be accessible to the general public on adsumnyc.com, with a presumed price of $140 USD.
