Created to cater to athletes seeking optimal performance in the early 1970s, the adidas SL 72 remains a pivotal part of the German sportswear brand's historical collection. While the silhouette experienced a comeback in 2019, the original color scheme from 1972 has been enhanced to showcase a more refined design, reminiscent of Brazil.
Introducing the inaugural member of the brand's Super Light lineup, the low top variation showcases a clever combination of a lightweight nylon foundation and luxurious suede accents adorning the mudguard, quarter, and heel counter.
These details are complemented by the iconic profile 3-Stripes, which add a touch of nostalgia. The design is further enhanced by the presence of smooth leather heel tabs and the timeless textured tongue.
The forthcoming collection centers around a majestic embellishment on the heel, where the shoe's namesake is elegantly embossed on the nylon base layer, exuding a golden metallic allure. The highly anticipated return of this silhouette is highlighted by the beloved blue and red colorway that took the market by storm more than half a century ago, with a slight modification featuring a gum tread.
Additionally, the upcoming offerings include an equally vibrant "Green/Yellow" ensemble, ensuring a diverse range of options.
The anticipated launch of the adidas SL 72 collection is scheduled for December 15th in international markets. Although information regarding its availability in the United States is still pending, we can now catch a glimpse of both pairs through captivating visual representations.
By the way, the Highsnobiety x adidas Campus "HIGHArt" is already available now with $130.
