Angel Reese's "Reebok Solution" vs Caitlin Clark's "Nike Kobe 5"

Angel Reese

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark developed a rivalry in college. Last night, these WNBA rookies took their competitiveness to the big leagues.

Reese's team, Chicago Sky, lost to Clark's team, Indiana Fever, on Saturday. The game was closely contested. Fever's 71-70 win was their first home victory and second of the season. They had a rocky start. Despite the loss, Reese was in style for the main event. She wore a pair of customized Reebok Solution sneakers.

Sneaker artist Marvin Baroota created the Reebok Solutions. He owns SoLegit Customs. The shoes belonging to the LSU alum are covered in a gradient pink fade. The design was inspired by the Barbie character and Reese's "Bayou Barbie" nickname. Pink rhinestones bedazzle the custom Reeboks. The toes feature painted Barbie logos. Earlier in the season, Reese wore a custom "Chi Barbie" Reebok Solution. Baroota also created these.

Clark continued her fashion preference in the game. She wore one of her go-to sneakers. They are the Nike Kobe 5 "Bruce Lee Alternate".

Saturday's game had controversy. In the third quarter, Chennedy Carter from Chicago fouled Clark during an inbounds play. Carter was the team's top scorer, earning 19 points. The call became a discussion topic after the game. The WNBA upgraded the call to a Flagrant 1 after further review. Reese received a $1,000 fine from the league. Her team was also fined, receiving a $5,000 penalty. The reason for these fines was that the rookie didn't attend the postgame media session.

Reebok made a deal with Reese in October 2023. This marked the brand's first long-term NIL endorsement.

The Reebok Solution draws inspiration from NBA legend Allen Iverson's signature line. Notably, it takes cues from the Reebok Question. It borrows aesthetic elements but adds new materials. These additions make it suitable for on-court play.
