Instagram user @kicksdong has provided a sneak peek at the upcoming Nike Kobe 4 Protro 'Philly' for the first time.
The lasting impact of Kobe Bryant will forever be associated with Los Angeles and the five NBA Championships he led the Lakers to. However, his roots at Lower Merion High School forged a unique bond with the Philadelphia region. In addition to the highly anticipated comeback of the Kobe 8 Protro 'Venice Beach', Nike will also release the Kobe 4 Protro 'Philly' from 2009 in the summer of 2024.
The second release of Bryant's fourth signature sneaker, which was announced in March 2022 after his partnership with Nike continued, features a USA-inspired color scheme. This palette pays homage to the original design of the silhouette from 14 years ago, with the Flywire technology and color blocking matching the style of the '09 version perfectly.
The majority of the upper portion of the shoe is adorned in shades of "Varsity Royal", with occasional bursts of "University Red" highlighting the collar lining, laces, and trim of the clean white profile swooshes.
Additionally, the back half of the sole unit features colorless accents. In a similar fashion to the original design, reflective 3M stars can be found at the collar, now in a lighter shade of blue. Furthermore, Kobe Bryant's birthdate, "8-23-78", is engraved on the insoles.
Expect the Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Philly” to hit stores in Summer 2024, with a price tag of $180. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on the release, but for now, take a moment to appreciate the 2009 edition.
