The clash between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky on Sunday garnered attention for the rematch between rivals Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, but Fever player Erica Wheeler stole the spotlight by debuting a fresh new colorway of Anthony Edwards' signature shoe.

Wheeler took the court sporting the Adidas AE 1 "Preloved Purple," a bold and eye-catching design set to launch in October. Staying true to the AE 1's signature two-tone styling, the shoe boasts a pearlescent purple hue on the TPU wings extending to the toe cap and sole. The Primeknit upper is colored in black, while the tongue and carbon fiber heel panel flaunt purple branding.

Coming off the bench, Wheeler scored 2 points in 11 minutes during the Fever's 91-83 victory. Caitlin Clark nearly achieved a triple-double, recording 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists. Reese contributed 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists, but was also called for a flagrant foul on Clark.

Since its December launch, the Edwards' signature sneaker has been a major success for Adidas, consistently selling out with the release of new colorways.

The Adidas AE 1 has ushered in a fresh chapter for the brand's basketball line, marked by eye-catching aesthetics and cutting-edge features. James Harden's Harden Vol. 8 has experienced a surge in popularity, and fans eagerly await the debut of new models for Donovan Mitchell and Damian Lillard, which will share the same innovative spirit. In October, the "Preloved Purple" version of the AE 1 will hit the market, available through Adidas and select retail partners, carrying a price tag of $120. The release is part of a broader lineup of anticipated Adidas basketball offerings scheduled to roll out in the coming months.
