Ja Morant's New Sneaker Honors Memphis Grizzlies Uniforms

Ja Morant's signature sneaker is being released in a fresh color scheme that pays tribute to the original uniforms of the Memphis Grizzlies.

The upcoming version of the Nike Ja 1, officially named "Seasonal," predominantly features cream, but it's the teal and red accents that echo the original color scheme of the Grizzlies' uniforms worn until 2004.

Elements of teal appear on parts of the midsole, mismatched tongue logo, and the heel's NO.12, while Morant's signature is showcased in red. For a bit of extra contrast, both the heel counter and mustache incorporate a darker tan.

In honor of its 25th anniversary during the 2019-2020 season, Memphis reintroduced its original jerseys, marking the year Morant earned the title of Rookie of the Year. This design hails from the NBA's era of large logos, often considered by many as the league's zenith in uniform styling.

Morant's premiere sneaker was launched last spring, topping the list as 2023's most exchanged signature basketball model on StockX. Boasting over 40,000 sales, it almost eclipsed the runner-up, the Nike LeBron 20, by twofold.
