As MLB Spring Training draws near, major sportswear brands are completing their rosters for the upcoming season. On Tuesday, Nike revealed the signing of Houston Astros left fielder Yordan Alvarez.

The 2x MLB All-Star joins Nike's impressive lineup of emerging and seasoned players in the league. Nike, as usual, unveiled the news with flair, sharing a captivating behind-the-scenes video featuring Alvarez exploring the brand's Beaverton, Oregon campus.

In the video, fans catch glimpses of Alvarez as he tours the offices at Nike HQ. More excitingly, there are snippets showing Alvarez collaborating with the design team on personalized batting gloves, fielding gloves, and footwear.

Naturally, he also paused to admire Drake and Travis Scott's sneakers with a radiant smile during his visit. Watch the official announcement in the Instagram video below.

Acquiring Alvarez marks another significant triumph for Nike, which currently boasts 48% of MLB starters in its lineup, as per a recent study. Despite wearing adidas since his Rookie of the Year season in 2019, Alvarez has now joined Nike, even after two All-Star campaigns.

There are no signs that Alvarez's footwear and apparel agreement is a signature deal. Nevertheless, if the 26-year-old continues to surpass expectations on the baseball field, that could certainly change in the future.

Excited fans gearing up for the upcoming MLB season can now grab their Houston Astros gear from the Nike website.
