New Balance 1906U for Chinese New Year

New Balance joins the lineup of brands introducing Lunar New Year-themed footwear with their fresh take on the New Balance 1906U, presenting it in two vibrant color options to celebrate the occasion.

With previous collaborations involving INVINCIBLE and N.HOOLYWOOD, the NB 1906U appears ready to dominate in 2024. This new iteration of the NB 1906R boasts a "utility" style, hence the "U" in its name instead of "R". While the shoe still maintains its performance-running roots, the Lunar New Year versions feature rip-stop textile instead of breathable mesh, while other styles utilize nylon.

The upper is adorned with synthetic overlays and translucent details, setting it apart from the standard New Balance 1906R.

These changes bring the sneaker in line with the technical footwear trends that have taken hold of the market in recent years, while also offering a fresh aesthetic within New Balance's lineup.

In the case of the New Balance 1906U, the sole unit of the NB 860v2 remains unchanged. The festive collection brings a touch of pink and off white to certain elements of the lower halves of both pairs, perfectly complementing their respective uppers.

In celebration of the upcoming "Year of the Dragon," jade-colored sockliners are featured on both shoes. According to Confucius, jade symbolizes the virtues of benevolence, fairness, and authenticity. To add a final unique detail, the "NB" logos on the insoles are embroidered rather than printed.

At present, the brand has not disclosed any information regarding a worldwide release on newbalance.com, but the sneakers can currently be found at specific overseas stores. The NB 1906U "Lunar New Year" is available for purchase at a price of $165 USD.

By the way, Nike Ja 1 will also release a new version sneakers in 2024 January to celebrate Chinese New Year.
