Having now released his 16th signature shoe with Nike, Kevin Durant has experienced great success in his basketball career. He has achieved numerous accolades, including a regular-season MVP award, two championships, and two Finals MVP awards. However, his recent signature shoe releases have not matched the same level of excellence as his earlier models, particularly the highly praised Nike KD 4, which debuted in 2011.
Nike Inc. will reportedly bring back the Nike KD 4 "Galaxy" in 2024, following the successful launch of their vintage sub-label with the Nike KD 3 "All-Star" earlier this year. This move allows Nike to pay homage to the popular colorways from their annual ASW collection.
Nike Basketball introduced a line of sneakers in 2012 that paid tribute to the Kennedy Space Center and had a "Galaxy" theme. These sneakers, including the highly sought-after "Galaxy" Foamposites, were first worn by Durant during the NBA All-Star Game in Orlando.
Now, Durant's second Nike shoe with a mid-foot strap is set to be released in Spring 2024, continuing the astronaut-inspired design. This new release will feature NASA-style mission patches and vibrant "Total Orange" accents.
